Now known as ‘The Webster Ruling’, he insisted that moving to another country whilst in the third of a four year contract was perfectly reasonable.

Tiago joined the Bianconeri from Lyon last year for €13m, however he has had a miserable 12 months in Italy.

It has been clear for quite some time now that Tiago would be leaving Juve this summer, providing a buyer could be found, and over the past week or so it has become a straight battle between Everton and Newcastle United for the player’s signature.

Juventus transfer director Alessio Secco admitted recently that two English clubs want to sign Tiago and, according to reports in Italy, Everton have come to an agreement with the Old Lady over a transfer fee.

VfL Wolfsburg spoiled the party as 1. FC Köln - and coach Christoph Daum - made their return to the top flight.

Easy win for “Wolves”
“Wolves” edge out Hanover
The dream lives on

The Blues may have found time to put four past Pompey yesterday afternoon, but the game was effectively wrapped up once Joe Cole latched onto Michael Ballack’s dinked ball to open the scoring early in the first half.

For the Londoners’ first-half display was of a rare calibre, dominant yet incredibly attractive and entertaining. New signing Deco was among the standouts, the Portugal playmaker ever-present and linking magnificently with his fellow midfielders. Also looking ominous was Nicolas Anelka, whose tireless runs and intelligent knock-downs always provided an option for the creative talents milling behind him.

Scolari plans to keep Sheva

Little over twelve months ago, former Thailand Prime Minister, Thaksin Shinawatra, completed the purchase of one of England’s so-called ‘sleeping giants’; a club steeped in history, but one that found itself aspiring to sit side-by-side with Tottenham Hotspur and Everton rather than Manchester United and Chelsea. That said, he was controversial, at least for a while. “Billionaire,” people then said, and with one word the allegations of human rights infringements seemed to evaporate quicker than an football agent’s payment.
