Abbruscato: Season over
Torino striker Elvis Abbruscato will miss the rest of the season after suffering a horror injury against Siena.
Abbruscato picked up a serious leg injury in injury-time in Sunday’s 1-0 defeat, having come on as a 68th minute substitute for Roberto Stellone.
Reports from Torino’s medical staff say the forward has broken his fibula, dislocated his shin bone and damaged ligaments.
He is expected to undergo surgery in the coming days before starting the long road back towards full fitness.
Abbruscato will sit out the remainder of the campaign and will be battling to be fit for the start of the 2009/10 season.
His injury is another setback for Torino, who suffered a fifth successive away defeat at the weekend to leave question marks hanging over Gianni De Biasi’s future as coach.
