Mario Gomez had scored the decisive goal in the 2-0 victory over FC Schalke 04, but it wasn't all smiles for the VfB Stuttgart striker.

Gomez tore a calf muscle in the dying minutes and will definitely miss Saturday's Bundesliga match at FC Energie Cottbus.

He might return in VfB's last Bundesliga match of 2008 against FC Bayern München on December 13th, however.

Pardo and Tasci out

“This is a blow, of course. But we have enough strong players in the squad, now they can show what they're capable of”, coach Markus Babbel said.

Pavel Pardo (muscular problems) and Serdar Tasci (fever) missed Tuesday's training session, too, but they are expected to be back soon.
