Championship bottom club Nottingham Forest are currently being linked with making a loan move for striker Chris Porter from Scottish Premier League club Motherwell.
The former Bury and Oldham forward scored 18 goals for the club last season and currently has four to his name this term from 17 appearances.
Forest manager Colin Calderwood admits that a loan recruit is a possibility with the club’s busy schedule ahead and Robert Earnshaw’s persistent injury problems, but alluded to the fact that Porter would not be able to join until January.
“We will have a look, the question mark over Robert [Earnshaw] makes us want to make sure we are strong enough in that department,” said Calderwood.
He continued: “We are doing a bit of work now and I think there might be a bit of a flurry [in the transfer market] on Thursday because there are eight or nine games between now and January.
“It is important for us that we have enough cover because another couple of injuries would make us a look very skinny.
“We are aware of Chris’s [Porter's] situation but that is not a new development, we have tracked him for a while
“But you can’t do anything until January with people from Scotland, Ireland and Wales. They are cross border transfers so we would not be able to do anything until January.”
