The 23-year-old Argentine striker has been in hot from since his move to Serie A from Argentine league side San Lorenzo last year, and his performances have led to several of Europe’s elite racing for his signature.

Despite his growing demand in Europe, the Argentinean has said he is happy where he is helping Napoli become a big club.

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, Lavezzi said, “I want to stay. I know Chelsea are interested in me but my agent and the club are dealing with all that.

“I don’t think there is any intention of letting me go and I’m glad about that, I’m really happy in Napoli.”

Lavezzi has just received his second international call up, with new Argentina coach Diego Maradona selecting him in his 23-man squad for the game against Scotland on Wednesday.

Reigniting his international career has been important to Lavezzi, who believes that staying at Napoli will increase his chances of becoming a regular for Argentina.

“At the moment I’m playing well so the call-up has come,” he continued. “I dream of becoming a fixture in the national team even if I realise that we have many good forwards and the competition is tough.

“Napoli will have to help me with this.”
