The Mexican striker is currently on loan at the City of Manchester Stadium from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk but has declared his intentions to give up Ukraine in favour of a move to Spain.
The Mexican hotshot’s career has taken a turn for the worse since his move to the Ukrainian giants, who bought him after his magnificent performances for Mexico in last year’s Copa America in Venezuela.
The 24-year-old striker has been in poor form since his loan move to City and hopes a move to Spain where he speaks the language and will adapt better to the lifestyle.
At a press conference in Mexico, Castillo said, “The main thing on my mind is to play for another team, in an important league like the Spanish Primera liga, which I like a lot.”
His agent Juan Carlos Padilla has revealed that the player has been given permission by Shakhtar to talk to other clubs and look for a new one, meaning that he will most likely be sold next season.
“We have possibilities in Spain. We have already signed an agreement with the club’s board which will allow us to leave Shakhtar,” added Padilla.
