Box to box midfielder Marouane Fellaini was signed from Belgian side Standard Liege late in the summer transfer window for a club record fee of £15 million.
Since his arrival he has shown he is strong in the air and in the challenge, has high energy levels, and is a threat in front of goal.
The Belgium international has already scored thrice for Everton and Tim Cahill hopes he continues to threaten in the final third so that they can share the goal-scoring burden.
“I think the best thing for me is to welcome players like that with open arms,” Cahill told BBC Radio Merseyside.
“I’m happy for him because with a price tag like that people expect him to come in and do things straight away.”
“It’s up to us as lads to help him settle and make sure he scores more goals.”
Everton’s season started in a stuttering fashion but recent wins have seen them climb the league ladder.
“Our aspiration is to finish in the top eight and then build on it. The sooner we get near to the top of the table then anything can happen because as you can see everyone is beating everyone.
“I feel that everyone wants to win something and everyone wants to do well, anywhere in the top eight in the next three to four months, then anything can happen.”
