Petit has been instrumental in 1. FC Köln's success. The Portuguese now speaks about his first Bundesliga goal and the mood in the team.
Question: Petit, you took over the captain's armband from Milivoje Novakovic in the final minutes of the win in Stuttgart. Was that a special motivation that made you even score?
Petit: No, that wasn't about the armband, only about attitude. If you put opponents under pressure you sometimes have a chance to nick the ball. That's what I did, and then I scored.
Question: FC have scored more than two goals for the first time this season. Are things improving up front?
Petit: We scored three goals, but one shouldn't forget matches against Cottbus or Frankfurt in which we had a lot of opportunities but failed to convert them. We work hard in training to improve in front of goal.
Question: Are you surprised that FC are doing so well as a promoted team?
Petit: It's not really surprising, because many players who came from the 2. Bundesliga now want to show and establish themselves. But we have to think from game to game and make sure we stay concentrated, so we can continue to distinguish ourselves positively in the Bundesliga.
