According to reports in the British press, Derby County midfielder Robbie Savage could be set to complete a transfer switch to Champions of Lebanon Al-Ansar.
Apparently, Savage has flown out to Beirut (where the club is based) to have talks with the club.
The former Wales international, who was capped 39 times by his country and scored two international goals, currently appears to be out of favour at Pride Park having made only three league appearances for the Rams this season.
Savage, who began his career at Manchester United before moving to Crewe, Leicester, Birmingham and Blackburn, joined League One club Brighton & Hove Albion on a one-month loan deal in October in order to play first team football.
However, Derby manager Paul Jewell does not seem to believe that a move will materialise after apparently being quoted as saying: “I am not sure if anything will come of it.”
Furthermore a statement from Al-Ansar has already played down the rumour.
