Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is hoping for trophy retention this season after last term’s double winning success.
Despite Arsenal’s stuttering start to the Premier League, the wily Scot believes the London side, together with Chelsea, are their main competitors for the European trophy, along with La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Ferguson’s omission of Liverpool was glaring.
“I don’t think there is a lot between ourselves, Chelsea, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Barcelona,” Sir Alex is quoted by the BBC as saying.
“We won the European Cup last year, but after all we only won it on penalty kicks. It was not a landslide. It was a big struggle.”
