A goal from Artur Wichniarek spared Arminia Bielefeld from their first ever Bundesliga home loss to Energie Cottbus, and from the drop into the bottom three.
The Polish international equalised for the home side in the 63rd minute, ending a personal 415-minute drought with his seventh goal of the season.
Rangelov red-carded
The result leaves Arminia in 15th on eight points, with Cottbus still bottom on six.
Dimitar Rangelov put the guests in front on 31 minutes, heading home his third goal in four days from an Erwin Skela cross, to put Energie on course for a possible second away win of the season. The Bulgarian international's next notable contribution to proceedings however was to get sent off on the verge of half time for a second bookable offence.
Ideas few and far between
Having failed to create a single chance of note in the first half, Bielefeld tried to up the pressure after the break.
Wichniarek eventually found a way through the Cottbus defence just over an hour in, rifling a shot past guest keeper Gerhard Tremmel from 15 metres out.
After that however, it was 10-man Cottbus who came closest to scoring. Stiven Rivic fired over from seven metres (66.) and three minutes later Dennis Sörensen was unlucky with an effort from an acute angle.
For their part, the home side won a string of corners, but were unable to make anything of them.
