Eintracht keep fans waiting

Lots of determination and some luck brought Frankfurt their first win of the season. The game against Karlsruher SC was held over from the 4th match day after a Madonna concert queered Frankfurt's piitch.

Goals from Benjamin Köhler and Ioannis Amanatidis turned round a match that looked lost until almost the final whistle. The 2:1 (0:0) win took Frankfurt from last to 15th in the table.

Maik Franz headed visitors KSC into the lead with eight minutes to go. Two minutes later Köhler equalised for the home team. Then, a minute into stoppage time, Amanatidis secured the unlikely win, the club's first of the season.

Frankfurt press but don't impress

Frankfurt pressed forward in a lack-lustre first half. But the looming fear of dropping out of the top league showed up in nervous play.

And KSC, too, had something to prove after their narrow 0:1 defeat to Bayern four days earlier.

Liberopoulos goes close

The only real chance in the first half fell to Eintracht striker Nikos Liberopoulos, whose shot from 20 metres shaved the visitors goal.

The Greek came into the side for his countryman and club captain Amantidis, whose injured knee kept him on the bench until the 61st minute. His late appearance lifted the home side.

Eintracht threaten from the wing

The home team looked dangerous when they attacked down the wing where Patrick Ochs and Austrian Ümit Korkmaz, on the pitch from the start for the first time, caused the visitors problems. Back from a 3-match suspension, Chris from Brazil gave some stability to the shaky Eintracht defence.

Spectators who left the ground early - perhaps bored with a 0:0 scoreline - missed all the action which saw three goals scored in the last 10 minutes
