Valencia remain top of the table after they romped to a 4-0 win over Numancia on Sunday. The top-two was unchanged after Sevilla also wrapped up victory over Almeria.
Villarreal lost touch with Valencia as they were held to a goalless draw with Espanyol.
Barcelona are fourth after victory over Athletic Bilbao, whilst Real Madrid produced a dramatic climax to win the Madrid derby against Atletico 2-1 at the Vicente Calderon.
Serie A
Champions Inter Milan moved top of the table after easily dispatching Roma 4-0 in the Eternal City.
Udinese dropped to second after being held to a 2-2 draw at Lecce, whilst Catania find themselves in third after victory over Palermo.
Previous leaders Lazio missed the chance to be level with Inter at the top as they lost at Bologna. Napoli had been top for 24 hours after they defeated Juventus on Saturday.
Bundesliga
Hamburg remain top of the Bundesliga despite being held to a 1-1 draw with Schalke.
Hoffenheim’s brillant start to life in the top-flight continued as they won 5-2 at Hannover.
Champions Bayern Munich remain in mid-table despite beating Karlsruhe.

Groningen lost top spot in Holland as Ajax found some form to claim a 1-0 win.
