Cologne bag third straight win

1. FC Köln have continued their winning run with a 1-0 victory over Energie Cottbus.

Colgone thus bagged three successive Bundesliga wins for the first time in eight years, climbing to eighth place with 13 points from eight games.

Mitreski sent off

Cottbus, who had to play with ten men for more than an hour, are in 16th place with five points.

Branko Jelic had Energie's only chance of note after 18 minutes, and the guests had Igor Mitreski sent off with a straight red after 29 minutes.

Novakovic winner

Milivoje Novakovic (9, 37), Miso Brecko (37) and Pierre Wome (39) all had chances to open the scoring for the hosts.

In the end it was Novakovic who broke the deadlock with his fifth of the season six minutes before the break.

Vucicevic unlucky

Cologne continued to dominate after the break. Roda Antar was denied by Gerhard Tremmel five minutes into the second half.

Nemanja Vucicevic went close with a volley eight minutes later, but Energie never really threatened and Cologne ran out 1-0 winners.
