Hamburger SV's German Under21 international Jerome Boateng is struggling with groin problems and faces a race against time to make the match against FC Schalke 04 on Sunday.
Boateng would be the third drop-out in days after Nigel de Jong (ligament damage) and Marcell Jansen (torn muscle).
On a positive note, Thimothee Atouba is likely to be fit in time.
