Aaron Ramsey, a £5million summer signing from Welsh side Cardiff, put in an eye-catching performance in his nation’s U21 European Championship play-off with England. Despite being on the losing side, Ramsey scored the goal of the round and provided an assist later.
Club manager Arsene Wenger believes that the 17-year old prodigy is benefiting from the Gunners’ world renowned youth policy, and that Ramsey is not far off a first team place.
“He is close [to the first team] because he is in the squad tomorrow,” Wenger told journalists ahead of the Premier League clash against Everton at the Emirates on Saturday.
“He is 17 and a half years old, you have to be realistic as well. I think nowhere in the world do players so young get regular chances in the squad as much as here at Arsenal Football Club.”
“On top of that, you cannot rush me to make it any quicker,” Wenger concluded.
