The last two weeks were difficult for many Bundesliga coaches: The internationals are on duty and traveling around the globe which means that the preparations for the upcoming Bundesliga match could only be done with a very limited amount of players.
But still, neither Jürgen Klopp nor Thomas Schaaf have complained. They try to make the best of the situation and at least BVB coach Klopp received some good news.
Florian Kringe picked up a slight injury in practice yesterday, but should be available on Saturday. While Bremen players Markus Rosenberg, Daniel Jensen and Jurica Vranjes all came home early from their international duty with injuries, all Borussia players are still doing well.
Lee rested
Young-Pyo Lee did not sit out the South Korean national team´s match on Saturday because of an injury, but because he had agreed to this with his coach Huh Jung-Moo. Lee is set to play in Seoul on Wednesday against the United Arab Emirates.
Only Hungarian international Tamas Hajnal had some slight muscular problems. “Nothing pulled, nothing torn”, said BVB coach Jürgen Klopp: “Tamas can play for us in Bremen on Saturday.”
Owomoyela “absolutely fit”
Klopp finally has some options on the defensive wings now. Young-Pyo Lee and Marcel Schmelzer who recently started in these positions are available and so are Toni Rukavina and Patrick Owomoyela after overcoming their injuries.
“I am absolutely fit, I don´t have any physical deficits anymore”, says the former Bremen player after playing for a full 90 minutes in the test match in Vienna on Friday.
After suffering from an Achilles tendon injury and two torn muscles, Owomoyela can now hope to be on the roster for Saturday´s match. “He´s a good footballer and hasn´t forgotten how to play”, says Klopp.
Hummels doubtful
Whether or not Mats Hummels will also be available is still to be confirmed. The young defender, who picked up an ankle injury in the UEFA Cup 1st leg match three weeks ago, will partly return to team practice on Tuesday (today). Mohamed Zidan will follow shortly.
And more good news for Jürgen Klopp: Nelson Valdez might already return from his South America travels (Colombia, Paraguay) on Friday noon and would then be able to travel to Bremen by train with the team.
