Ranieri: Given vote of confidence
Juventus general manager Jean-Claude Blanc has played down reports linking the club with a move for Rafa Benitez, saying they will keep faith with Claudio Ranieri.
Ranieri’s future at Juve has been the subject of conjecture in recent weeks following a poor run of form, with reports suggesting he could be axed and replaced by Liverpool manager Benitez.
However, Blanc insists everyone remains behind former Chelsea chief Ranieri and are confident he will turn things around.
“We will not change our coach, as we have total faith in Ranieri, just as president Cobolli Gigli said on Sunday,” Blanc told Sky Italia.
“I can confirm that 100 per cent. Ranieri was chosen to lead a long-term project and that will continue.
“We’ll sit down with him, his staff and the medics to analyse the situation and try to find extra small tweaks that must get Juventus back to the side we saw at the end of August.
Long-term
“Ranieri has a contract for another year and we are making long-term considerations.”
Blanc conceded Juventus are experiencing a difficult period, but he is confident they can ride through the storm.
“There is no point denying we are in a difficult moment in terms of both performance and results,” continued Blanc.
“It is a difficult moment, but we have the desire to face up to it with professionalism and an eye for the smallest details, as these are the ones that make the difference.
“We have to return with a winning style of play.”
