Sir Alex Ferguson has singled out four fledglings for specific praise and in order to add to their development they may be introduced to added first team duties.

“Young players like Rafa and Fabio (Da Silva), (Rodrigo) Possebon and (Danny) Welbeck are the ones we have always tried to have here in the last 15 years,” Ferguson is quoted by the Manchester Evening News as saying.

“They are the 20-years-of-age mark and under, who can take over from the ones in that group now who will become the mid-age range players. The mid-range ages become the older group. That is all about managing change.”

This adds to the recent comments he made about young centre half Jonny Evans, who will be challenging Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand for a starting berth in the future.

“Jonny Evans will be the centre half in Manchester United’s future there is no question about that,” Sir Alex said.
