Bayern München have made their worst start to a league campaign in 31 years. An unpalatable turn of events, naturally enough, for sporting director Uli Hoeneß.
Question: Herr Hoeneß, Bayern München are ninth in the table in the wake of the 1-0 defeat at Hannover. How do you gauge the current situation?
Uli Hoeneß: We're not exactly in celebratory mood, that's for sure. There are a lot of teams in front of us. It annoys me to look at the standings. It can't go on like this, or there will be too big a gap to close to the top. We need to make a real effort to ensure this situation doesn't last much longer.
Question: How did the defeat in Hannover come about?
Hoeneß: We were careless in our approach. We had the game totally under control in the first 20 minutes, then conceded a silly goal from a free-kick - and after that we weren't able to exert any real pressure on them.
Question: Coach Jürgen Klinsmann deployed the rotation policy again. Was that a contributing factor to the defeat?
Hoeneß: You can't put the result down to rotation. Breno was one of the ones to come in, and he was our best player. So that can't have been the reason.
Question: Next up is the Champions League game with Olympique Lyon on Tuesday. How will the team approach that one?
Hoeneß: We can prove what we're capable of on the international stage, and get ourselves into the kind of rhythm we need to find for the Bundesliga. I just hope we're not going to have a Janus-faced season - good in the Champions League, but not so good in the Bundesliga.
