Buffon: Injury not serious
Juventus have been boosted by the news goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon faces only 10 days on the sidelines after injuring his groin.
The Italy international needed to be replaced at half-time in Sunday’s 1-0 win over Cagliari after pulling up with a groin complaint.
Buffon will miss Juventus’ next game at home to Catania in midweek, while he will likely remain a doubt for their UEFA Champions League trip to Minsk to play BATE Borisov of Belarus a week on Wednesday.
In Buffon’s second half absence on Sunday, the club’s reserve goalkeeper Alex Manninger stepped from the bench and impressed in keeping a clean sheet.
And the former Arsenal man has the backing of his illustrious team-mate Buffon: “Having seen the saves that Alex Manninger made in the second period, I know that I can be calm about him taking my place.”
