Corluka thought he was trading a team in turmoil for a club on the up when he left Manchester City during the summer.
But with City - recently taken over by Abu Dhabi United Group - sitting pretty in fourth after their 6-0 thrashing of Portsmouth, the Croatian international may well be regretting his decision to depart Eastlands.
For Spurs lie in last place with just two points from five games, and their summer outlay of over £66million looks likely to backfire in a big way.
Juande Ramos’ men could only manage a goalless draw at home to Wigan Athletic on Sunday, and Corluka is growing frustrated by the Lilywhites’ continuing underachievement.
“Everyone expected us to beat Wigan on Sunday but unfortunately we only took a point,” he said in The Sun.
“We worked hard and I thought we were unlucky but if we keep doing that the results will come. The team is too good to be bottom of the league.
“The confidence isn’t the highest at the moment but I’m sure once we get wins under our belt, things will change.”
Tottenham notched their first win of the season last week when they downed Wisla Krakow 2-1 in a UEFA Cup clash at White Hart Lane.
Ramos and co had hoped that result would spark a sudden turnaround in form, but no such change appears immediately forthcoming if Sunday’s performance is anything to go by.
And Corluka has urged his team-mates to be ruthless in their pursuit of victory when they face Newcastle United in the Carling Cup this evening.
He added: “We have no time to wait for something to happen. We need another win as soon as possible in whatever way we can get it.”
