Pirlo faces two months out

Pirlo: Injury blow

AC Milan midfielder Andrea Pirlo could be facing up to two months on the sidelines after suffering a thigh injury.

The Italy international sustained the problem in training on Tuesday and missed Milan’s Uefa Cup victory over FC Zurich on Thursday.

Pirlo has since undergone medical examinations and scans and they revealed that the injury is more serious than first feared.

The 29-year-old is now expected to be out of action for around eight weeks and is likely to return to the fold at the beginning of December.

Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti will view the news as a major blow following his side’s unconvincing start to the season.
