DFB issues Chris with 3-match ban

Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Chris has been given a three-match suspension by the disciplinary committee of the German FA (DFB).

The 30-year-old Brazilian was given a straight red card by referee Herbert Fandel in the 34th minute of Frankfurt's 1-0 defeat at Schalke 04 on Saturday, for elbowing home player Heiko Westermann.

Available for cup

Eintracht coach Friedhelm Funkel will thus be without the midfielder for the visits to VfL Bochum (27. September) and 1899 Hoffenheim (4. October), as well as the home game against Bayer Leverkusen on October 18th.

The ban does not however affect the DFB Cup, leaving Chris available to play for Frankfurt against Hansa Rostock on Tuesday.
