Thiago: No Milan interest
AC Milan have denied reports the club are trying to sign Brazilian defender Thiago Silva, who has also been linked with Inter Milan.
Speculation has suggested that the city rivals are locked in a battle to bring Thiago Silva to Serie A during the January transfer window.
But Milan have dismissed the gossip and say there is no room for the Fluminense stopper in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.
“In some newspapers today they tried to make Milan look like they are in competition with another club for the purchase of Brazilian player Thiago Silva,” read a statement on the club’s official website.
“In reality, there wasn’t and there will not be competition, because Milan, having already registered two foreigners for this season, is not amongst the clubs who can register Thiago Silva.”
The 23-year-old admits he is happy to stay with Fluminense until the end of the year amid reports in Brazil his agent is travelling to Italy to discuss a possible move.
Thiago Silva told the Brazilian media: “I could have left Fluminense, but I want to do what I have promised to the supporters and I am going to stay at least until the end of the year.”
