The 18 Bundesliga clubs have signed 104 new players among them. The 2. Bundesliga was even more active, securing the services of 142 new signings.
VfL Wolfsburg signed twelve new players — more than any other Bundesliga club — including 2006 World Cup winners Andrea Barzagli and Cristian Zaccardo. Hertha BSC and Borussia Dortmund have nine new players each.
MSV sign 15
MSV Duisburg were the most active 2. Bundesliga club, signing no less than 15 new players. FC Augsburg and 1. FC Nürnberg follow with nine each.
TSV 1860, currently bottom of the standings, hope to get along with just three new acquisitions.
Just two for Schalke and 1899
Bundesliga sides 1899 Hoffenheim and FC Schalke 04 did even less with two new signings each, albeit Schalke have signed two real top stars in Jefferson Farfan and Orlando Engelaar.
As always, it remains to be seen whether the number of new signings or the timing of the transfers will have an impact on each club's fortunes in 2008/09…
