Borussia Dortmund maintained their impressive start to the season under new coach Jürgen Klopp with a 1-0 win at Energie Cottbus, giving them their best start to the season for five years.

They now lie third in the table on goal difference behind Schalke and HSV, all on seven points. New signing Neven Subotic scored the only goal of the game on the stroke of half-time, making it six wins out of six for Borussia on their trips to Cottbus.##2##

The visitors set the tone from the start in the Stadion der Freundschaft, with Florian Kringe particularly active down the left. Chances were few and far between early on, however, with the Cottbus defence presenting a united front.

Seconds before the break, Dortmund carved out their best opportunity of the match and Subotic exploited it, putting away Kringe's headed assist from close range.

No way through

The hosts had no choice but to open up somewhat in the second half, but only really posed a threat from set pieces. BVB stand-in keeper Marc Ziegler had trouble beating away an Atan Cagdas free kick, while Cottbus playmaker Ervin Skela managed to hit the bar with a miscued cross.

For their part, Dortmund now had more space to operate in on the counter, but they were unable to avail further of it.
