Swansea City won their first away game in the Championship thanks to a goal from striker Jason Scotland.

The Swans took the lead a minute before half time through Jason Scotland, who scored with a left-footed shot from 12 yards out. This was his first goal of the season and the Trinidad ace caused havoc for the Argyle defence all evening.

The Pilgrims also created their own chances. Former Swan Rory Fallon was Swansea’s main threat and winger Jason Puncheon provided a bit of flair.

Despite a slow start from the away side, the Welsh club were the better side during the first half. Scotland scored when he latched on to a pass by Darren Pratley, getting ahead of Mathias Doumbe and beating Graham Stack at his near post.

Six minutes into the second half, Plymouth defender Marcel Seip had the ball in the back of the net, heading home Luke Summerfield’s corner. However, the referee disallowed the goal because of a push on ‘keeper Dorus de Vries. Swansea were again the better side in the second half and might have increased their lead when Pratley and Scotland forced saved out of Stack.

Although they couldn’t add to Scotland’s goal, they held off a late push by Plymouth to secure three valuable away points.
