Baptista: Attracting interest
Julio Baptista’s proposed move to Roma from Real Madrid is in danger of falling through.
The Serie A side are reported to be unwilling to match the Brazilian’s wage demands, with a compromise seemingly some way off.
The striker’s agent insists his client is unwilling to accept a pay cut in order to join the Italians.
“To be honest the deal is on hold,” Herminio Mendez told La Roma Siamo Noi.
“The clubs have both reached an agreement but there are also other teams interested apart from Roma. Fenerbahce are one of those sides.
“We’ll see what happens. We will try and meet with the club in the next few days.”
Roma are restricted in what they can offer any potential new signing by a salary cap, and Baptista’s reported 3million euros (£2.3m) per season demands would break their salary structure.
