Malouda only signed for Chelsea last summer from Lyon for a hefty €20m, but he failed to live up to his price tag during his debut season in England.

There have been constant reports in the media this summer that the 28-year-old is not in the plans of the club’s new manager Luiz Felipe Scolari, and that he will be allowed to leave.

Roma are searching for a new left winger following the sale of Amantino Mancini to Inter, and they have been consistently linked with a move for Malouda.

Earlier this week the 2006 World Cup star issued a “thanks but no thanks” message to Roma, and he has once again reiterated this stance.

“At Chelsea I am well,” said Malouda.

“I work in ideal conditions, in a beautiful environment with a new manager who has some really interesting technical methods.

“There was a lot of misinformation [in the press] about me, so much that the manager came to me several times to ask whether I wanted to stay or leave.

“Every time I responded that I would be remaining, and he [Scolari] has always showed a great deal of interest in me.

“For me, the case is closed. I am staying at Chelsea.”

Malouda was only named on the substitutes bench for Chelsea’s opening game of the Premiership season this afternoon against Portsmouth at Stamford Bridge.
