Hannover win all-Bundesliga test
The 96ers came out on top against Hertha BSC in their Summer Cup meeting in Palma de Mallorca.

A crowd of around 800 turned out in Palma's Ono Stadium to watch Hannover take the honours thanks to goals from Jan Schlaudraff (19., 69.) and Mike Hanke (44.), with Marc Stein (51.) replying for Hertha.

There was little action of note until Schlaudraff spotted Hertha keeper Christopher Gäng had strayed from his line and lobbed him from the edge of the box. Hannover continued to look the more impressive of the two sides thereafter, Schlaudraff testing Gäng again with a 16-metre drive (28.).

Friedrich subbed

Four minutes later, Hertha captain Arne Friedrich was taken off, clearly still struggling with a back problem. Kaka came on in his place. Shortly before the break, Schlaudraff stormed down the right and laid the ball off in the middle for Hanke, who was left with a simple tap-in to make it 2-0.

Half-time sub Stein pulled one back for Hertha early in the second half, but Schlaudraff restored the two -goal cushion with just over 20 minutes remaining, following good work down the right by Pinto.

The game came to an abrupt conclusion in the 90th minute when the stadium lights went out, leaving the pitch in total darkness. The referee took that as a signal and promptly blew for the end of the contest.
