Roma weigh up Yossi move

Benayoun: Wanted by Roma

Roma are reported to be lining up a move for Liverpool midfielder Yossi Benayoun, skysports.com understands.

Benayoun’s future at Liverpool has been the subject of speculation all summer with a number of clubs keen on signing him.

Manchester City and Benayoun’s former club West Ham are thought to be tracking the Israeli schemer and now Roma have joined the chase for the 28-year-old.

Reports have suggested Liverpool may be prepared to sacrifice Benayoun after Rafa Benitez admitted he would have to sell before he can buy again this summer.

Roma chief Luciano Spalletti is in the market for a new attacking midfielder after seeing Amantino Mancini leave for Inter Milan and he is thought to be an admirer of Benayoun.

Should Roma follow up their interest with a firm move for the player, Liverpool could decide to cash-in on Benayoun to enable them to raise funds for the signing of Gareth Barry.
