Keane completed his £19million move to Anfield earlier this week, simultaneously calling curtains on his impressive six-year spell at Tottenham Hotspur.
The Irish striker scored 107 goals in 257 games for Spurs and effectively established himself as the club’s de facto skipper given Ledley King’s consistent absence through injury.
Noe the 28-year-old has embarked upon a new journey with the Reds, and Torres believes a player with such a track record in the Premier League can only be a hugely positive addition to the squad.
?Robbie really wanted to come to us and you can already see he is going to bring us an enormous amount ? hard work, goals and experience,? the Spain superstar said in The Sun. ?He will bring the level of the team up a notch.
?Keane has a proven record and great mobility and versatility. He can play on the wing or a bit behind the striker.
?It is very good for the team to have a player who can get in between the opposition?s midfield and defence and score goals.?
Adaptable
Keane’s last two seasons at White Hart Lane saw him form a deadly strike-partnership with Bulgarian hitman Dimitar Berbatov, as the pair scored some 91 goals between them and accrued numerous direct assists.
It remains to be seen whether the ex-Internazionale forward will be given the opportunity to forge the same type of relationship with Torres, as Reds boss Rafael Benitez has hinted that he may spend much of his time on the right side of attack.
But ‘El Nino’ is certain Keane will thrive in whichever role Benitez decides to use the former Leeds United player.
?The tactical lay-out of the team, and whether or not we are going to play two up front, is down to Rafa Benitez,? Torres continued.
?When he signed Keane I?m sure he had a very clear idea of where he wanted to play him.
?But he is very adaptable. He could fill a number of different roles.?
