Former Bayern Munich manager and current Switzerland coach Ottmar Hitzfeld met Fifa President Josep Blatter today in Zurich, after discussions with Blatter, Hitzfeld spoke to Fifa.com.

Hitzfeld, a two-times Champions League winner as manager (with two different clubs), revealed his support of the 6+5 rule:

“I am totally behind this rule. There are too many foreign players in every league, meaning local youngsters can’t be brought on properly.”

Hitzfeld, 60, added: “A lot of money is spent unnecessarily and which would be better invested in youth work and the development of talent. I advocate having more home-grown players in each league.”
