Jenas had been oft maligned since moving to Spurs from Newcastle United in 2005, with many labeling the England international a chronic underachiever.

However, the arrival of Juande Ramos in October has seen the 25-year-old?s performances pick up dramatically, his hard-working and attacking displays helping the Lilywhites to a comfortable mid-table finish last term after an abominable start under Martin Jol.

The ex-Nottingham Forest man has four years remaining on his current deal at White Hart Lane, and it was initially speculated that he might leave following the arrival of Croatian playmaker Luka Modric.

But Ramos views Jenas as a key component in the centre of the pitch and is eager to tie him to the club until 2014.
