Mutu: Staying at Fiorentina
Fiorentina have rejected Roma’s offer for Adrian Mutu and say the Romanian will stay at the club.
Roma had launched a bid, believed to be in the region of £16million, to take the striker to the Stadio Olimpico.
Reports in Italy claimed that the former Chelsea forward was likely to link up with Roma before the end of the week.
However, Fiorentina president Andrea Della Valle has turned down the bid and insists Mutu is not for sale.
Intense negotiations
“With reference to Roma’s offer the Fiorentina president Andrea Della Valle states that Adrian Mutu is and will remain a Fiorentina player,” read a statement on the club’s official website.
The Giallorossi are refusing to give up on their quest to sign Mutu, with technical director Bruno Conti suggesting the club could make a fresh offer.
Conti said: “We have had intense negotiations for Mutu and will continue to do so until the transfer window closes.”.
