VfL Wolfsburg have won the first pre-season friendly organised at their training camp on Usedom.
Local amateur side SV Greif Torgelow were the opponents at the Gießerei-Arena in Torgelow on the Baltic sea island. The “Wolves” dominated the contest and ran out 5-0 (3-0) winners.
Pressure from the off
VfL put the home side under pressure from the start, but took a good twenty minutes to find their shooting boots. Bosnian international Edin Dzeko got the Bundesliga outfit off the mark with the opener in the 22nd minute, with Zvejzdan Misimovic providing the assist.
Two minutes later scorer turned provider, Dzeko putting Marcel Schäfer in for number two. Dzeko notched his own second half an hour in, to give the “Wolves” a 3-0 lead at the break.
Two from Radu
VfL coach Felix Magath sent out an entirely different side for the second half, and it took the “second IX” all of two minutes to find the net, Sergiu Radu heading them 4-0 in front. The Romanian international made it 5-0 with his second in the 54th minute, and that was that as far as the scoring was concerned.
Wolfsburg's next test is against another local side, VfB Anklam, on Tuesday 1 July.
