Franz Beckenbauer believes Germany's captain Michael Ballack can lead his team to victory over Spain - and another EURO triumph.
Question: Franz Beckenbauer, which team is favourite to win on sunday?
Franz Beckenbauer: The chances are 50:50. If the Spanish play they way they did in the second half against Russia, then their chances are good. If Germany play like they did against Portugal, then I'm optimistic our team will win.
Question: Spain have looked good throughout the tournament. But Germany have been variable. What do you think of Germany's performances so far?
Beckenbauer: Our performances have never been consistent. Good against Poland, not at all good against Croatia and unconvincing against Austria. The team had a really good day against Portugal in the quarters. But against the Turkish reserves in the semis, it was mediocre. By the law of averages, it's time for a strong performance again.
Question: What do you expect of Michael Ballack in the final? Will he get his first international title?
Beckenbauer: To be honest, I have a good feeling, It's Ballack's best chance of winning a major international medal. He's going to fight and run to achieve that. He's the leader of the team and directs their play on the pitch. He's the key to success against Spain.
Question: The Spanish midfield has been very impressive at this EURO. How do you rate the Spaniards?
Beckenbauer: The second half against Russia was the best I've seem them play in the last 10 years. They are terrifically accomplished technically and hardly make a false pass. Their performances here so far have impressed me a lot.
Question: King Juan Carlos will be watching the game in the stands. Who will be cheering at the end: the King or the Kaiser?
Beckenbauer: I've sat with the Spanish King a number of times when Bayern have played Real Madrid in the Champions League. Bayern have lost each time. I hope that isn't an omen.
