The 15-year old, who has been dubbed the ?new Wayne Rooney?, had attracted the attention of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger as well as Portsmouth in recent months after impressing in Plymouth?s youth side.

It is believed, however, that Newcastle?s Executive Director, Dennis Wise, travelled to the South Coast to meet with the player and his parents, a signal of the club?s commitments which had a big impact on the teenager?s decision.

Speaking on the move, Caroline Spears said: ?Aaron has agreed to join Newcastle and now we are waiting on the two clubs to agree a fee,” Spear told skysports.com.

“We spent a couple of days up in Newcastle and met with Dennis Wise and we were very impressed by what he had to offer.

“A number of clubs had expressed an interest in Aaron, but he has decided he wants to go to Newcastle.

“We are very proud of him and we are excited about his future at Newcastle.”

Although the player is yet to sign professional terms with the club, under Premier League rules The Pilgrims would be entitled to a fee, believed to be in the region of £150,000 up-front with additional fees due after certain milestones.
