Ronnie calm about future

Ronaldinho: Keeping calm

Ronaldinho admits he is not worrying about his future after being told he can leave Barcelona in the summer.

New Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola confirmed earlier this week that he would be prepared to offload Ronaldinho, along with Deco and Samuel Eto’o, before the start of next season.

Manchester City have acknowledged an interest in the Brazilian playmaker and are reportedly lining up a big-money bid.

Milan have conceded they are unable to match City’s wage offer to Ronaldinho, while Chelsea have also been credited with an interest after Luiz Felipe Scolari was appointed manager.

The 28-year-old is currently back in Brazil as he looks to return to full fitness after an injury-plagued past season.

Stay calm

When asked about his future, the former Paris Saint Germain admitted his priority is to regain peak condition and get back on the pitch.

“I’ve got a contract with Barcelona until 2010 and I just have to stay calm,” he told Brazilian TV station SporTV.

“Until 19th July (when Barca pre-season training begins) lots of things can still happen, but all I’m worried about now is getting better and being able to play again as soon as possible and to get back in the national team as soon as possible.”

Ronaldinho continued to stress that his main concern at the moment was getting back to full fitness, rather than finding a new club, adding: “If God wills it, I hope to be back playing as soon as possible.”

He was also quizzed about whether he would prefer a move to England or Italy, but said: “I don’t know.”
