The Rennes of France defender has been linked with a move to several English Premiership club sides in recent weeks, amongst them final-day survivors Wigan Athletic.

Recently relegated English club Reading could have snapped up the 25-year-old player last summer, but failed to meet the £7m demand of the rouge-et-noir side.

Mensah says he would love to remain at Rennes, but his family is keen on making a move to England.

“Last season I could have left for Reading, but finally I am still here,” Mensah told French tabloid, L’Equipe.

“I feel fine at Rennes, I appreciate the club and the city.

“However, my family is English speaking and would like to live in England.”
