The Portuguese international joined Los Che from Benfica in 2005 for a fee of ?7,5 million, having been an ever-present piece in the club’s defense since his arrival.
However, the 28-year-old now says to be unhappy with life at Valencia after a season that saw the club narrowly escaping relegation.
“I have already told the club that I prefer to leave because of many things that happened this season, and the best for everyone would be for me to leave,” Miguel told news agency EFE.
“I think that if something good for both parties arrives, it would be good to leave Valencia.”
Miguel preferred not to unveil what has caused his wish to leave Mestalla, saying that he wants to keep that to himself.
“The people in the club know, because I told them and, therefore, the best would be for me to change teams,” he shrugged.
“Of course, since I have a contract, you can’t say that my time at Valencia is over but, although I love the city and the club, some things happened that I did not like.”

It was reported in May that Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson was interested in bringing in Miguel after failing to capture his prime target, José Bosingwa, who signed for Chelsea.
It is understood that a fee of ?15 million will be enough to persuade Valencia to allow the Portuguese player to go to Old Trafford.
