Cristiano Ronaldo has once again attracted interest in his future plans, by insisting that he still has not decided on where he will be playing his football next season.
After helping his nation to a 2-0 win over Turkey last night, the Portuguese winger refused to be drawn on declaring his intended destination for the start of the next campaign.
He is reported to have told Marca today: “I still don’t know where I will play, I have not decided yet. I will talk after the European Championships.”
His club, Manchester United, are growing increasingly frustrated with the attempts of Real Madrid to keep the fires stoked with regard to a deal, and Ronaldo himself is intent on keeping everybody guessing.
The player has tried to set the distraction aside, as his country attempts to negotiate a path through to the latter stages of the European Championships.
He continued: “I have convinced myself that I cannot worry about this, so I am calm.”
After Nani replaced Portuguese skipper Nuno Gomes, it was Ronaldo who was handed the captain’s armband, an accolade of which he is proud.
He said of the honour: “I’ve already been captain on a few occasions and, to tell the truth, the responsibility is always the same, but I am not going to lie and say that I don’t like being captain of the national team.”
