Mourinho: Not special, just great
Jose Mourinho does not believe his ‘Special One’ tag is necessarily a bad thing for his image or persona.
The former Chelsea boss who famously stated ‘I’m a Special One’ upon arriving at Stamford Bridge has been stuck with the tag ever since.
However, Mourinho, who is odds-on to replace Roberto Mancini at Internazionale, says he is not special, just a great football manager.
The Portuguese tactician’s CV speaks for itself having won six trophies in three years with Chelsea after guiding Porto to UEFA Champions League glory.
Great manager
“The story of the ‘Special One’ has stuck, and that’s not a bad thing,” Mourinho told Jornal de Negocios.
“But I am not at all special. I think of myself as a great football manager, that’s all.
“I only have strengths. And when I have a weakness I try to hide it.
“I see myself as a person who is emotionally resilient and capable of adapting to difficult situations, rather than someone who is very intelligent.”
