Michael Kightly is said to be on the verge of a move to the Premier League, with West Ham believed to be leading the hunt for his signature.
Kightly had an impressive first season for Wolverhampton since arriving from on-league Grays Athletic, so much so that his former chairman has tipped the 22-year-old to already make the jump up to a Premiership club during the summer.
“I think you’ll see Michael Kightly move very shortly,” said Grays Athletic chairman Mick Woodward. “I know Everton, West Ham United and Blackburn Rovers have come in for him and a club has put a £4 million bid in already.
“People will see who they can get rid of first. West Ham are going to have a good clear-out because they’ve got too many ‘Big-Time Charlie?s’ and they want players who are hungry. Kightly fits that bill perfectly.”
Wolves missed out on the Championship play-offs for a Premier League place only on goal difference - by a single goal - and that could just have convinced Kightly to move if given the chance.
