Karlsruher SC: the surprise team
28 points from the first 17 matches had given Karlsruher SC 6th place in the winter break.

But the Wildpark team couldn't maintain their position in 2008. Just 15 points from the last 17 matches meant 11th place in the end.

bundesliga.de has the top facts of Karlsruhe's season:

KSC were the only team that wasn't awarded a penalty. They also didn't concede one until matchday 34.

KSC scored 19 goals each before and after the winter break, but picked up 28 points in 2007 and just 15 in 2008.

Only Werder's Diego (10) set up more goals than Tamas Hajnal 9).

No other team scored less first-half goal than KSC (7) and less goals in the opening 15 minutes (just one).

KSC consequently were the worst team before the break. If every match had finished at half-time, KSC would have been bottom of the standings with 24 points and 7-28 goals.
