Good news for FC Energie Cottbus: Dimitar Rangelov has finalised his move from Racing Strasbourg to the Lausitz.
On Thursday, FC Energie acquired the transfer rights to the 25-year-old striker, whom they had signed on loan for the 2007-2008 season. At the same time, Rangelov signed a contract tying him to Cottbus until 2011.
Convincing performances
“Dimitar Rangelov has completely convinced us of his qualities with his form this season”, sporting director Steffen Heidrich said of the deal, adding, “If he can continue in that vein next season, he is going to provide us with a lot of pleasure.”
Rangelov scored six goals in 21 appearances in his first Bundesliga campaign. The Bulgarian international missed the post-winter break restart due to a back injury, but returned in time to help Cottbus ward off relegation, notching the winner in the crucial 2-1 victory over Hansa Rostock.
