Champs headed East
About half the FCB pros have returned to their respective international teams to prepare for European and World Cup qualifications.

The rest of the squad, lead by captain Oliver Kahn, Mark van Bommel and Zé Roberto, embarked on a nine-day trip to the far east on Monday morning.

Anticipation

“I'm looking forward to this great trip”, said Ottmar Hitzfeld before the departure of the 37 FCB contingent to Jakarta, the first of three stops in Asia.

The reigning Bundesliga champions will play a friendly against the Indonesian international team in Jakarta on Wednesday. Then it's off to Bali and on to Kalkutta, where Bayern will face Mohun Bagan AC, Asiia's oldest club, on May 27th.

China trip cancelled

“That's a great way to end a season. That will be nine days to enjoy”, said Hitzfeld about his last business trip as coach of FC Bayern. The trip had originally been planned to include a stop in China, where Bayern were to play a rematch against Chinese olympians.

But this stop was cancelled due to organisational issues on the Chinese side. Instead, FCB will spend three days in Bali.
