Werder without Wiese
It's an exciting week for Christian Vander.

Yesterday the goalkeeper extended his contract with Werder Bremen for two years, and on Saturday Vander will come in for number one goalkeeper Tim Wiese (knee problems) when Bremen play in Leverkusen.

Four matches this season

“I'm delighted to be able to prove my ability once again”, Vander said. The 28-year-old had played his last competitive match for Werder reserves at the end of March.

The former Bochum player has already kept goal against MSV Duisburg and Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga this season, as well as in the Champions League against Olympiacos and Real Madrid.

Klasnic doubtful

Striker Ivan Klasnic missed Wednesday afternoon's training session, too.

“Ivan has problems with his shin bone, we'll have to wait and see”, coach Thomas Schaaf explained.
