VfL Wolfsburg still have their hopes of entering into the UEFA-Cup for the second time in club history.
VfL impressively undid VfB Stuttgart 4-0 (2-0) and moved into sixth place in the table. Wolfsburg earned their only previous qualification for international play nine years ago.
Goals by VfL captain Marcelinho (16th min.) and striker Edin Dzeko (22nd min.) put Wolfsburg up early against the former Bundesliga champions. After the half, defender Ricardo Costa scored his second goal of the season to make it 3-0 (55th min.) and Ashkan Dejagah made it 4-0 in the 75th minute to complete the shutout.

VfB were crippled early on in the 18th minute and forced to play with ten men when captain Fernando Meira was red carded after a foul against Grafite.
VfL strong from the start
Playing in front of 28,001 spectators in the VW Arena, VfL proved to be the more creative and serious team from the start. Coach Felix Magath's squad threatened to score again and again, forcing Stuttgart out of their game plan. Before the 1-0, Marcelinho (3rd min.), Grafite (5th min.) and Dzeko (11th min.) all had shots to put Wolfsburg up early.
